Find Nearby Plumbers Companies In 83854, Athol, Idaho

A River City Plumbing earns strong marks for professionalism and project completion, with dozens of reviews praising friendly, communicative technicians who arrive promptly, explain their work thoroughly, and follow through to completion. Experience scores are similarly high, with multiple reviewers highlighting skilled diagnostics, problem-solving in complex situations, and quality workmanship across a wide range of jobs. However, pricing is a meaningful drag on the overall score — a recurring pattern of complaints about unexpectedly high bills, lack of itemized invoices, undisclosed credit card surcharges, and quotes that changed mid-job suggests inconsistent pricing transparency. The single lowest-confidence dimension is pricing, yet it has enough mentions to carry full weight, and the negative signals there are credible and specific enough to warrant a significantly reduced score in that category.

• PRICING CONCERNS — RECURRING PATTERN: At least 7 reviews across multiple years explicitly describe surprise charges, no upfront estimates, refusal to provide itemized invoices, undisclosed credit card surcharges, and rates perceived as excessive. This is a consistent and credible pattern, not isolated incidents.
• POSSIBLE DUPLICATE REVIEW: The review dated 2017-07-12 appears to have been submitted twice — once with a timestamp and once without — using nearly identical language. One instance was excluded from scoring to avoid double-counting.
• BLANK REVIEW: One review dated 2017-07-05 contains only a period ('.') with a 5-star rating and no usable content. It was excluded from all dimension scoring.
• RECENCY IMBALANCE: The majority of reviews (approximately 40+) are dated 2025, with a heavy cluster in March–June 2025. Older reviews (2014–2021) show more mixed experiences including professionalism complaints. Recent reviews skew very positive, which may reflect genuine improvement or selection bias.
• POTENTIAL REVIEW CLUSTERING: A large number of 5-star reviews mention the same technician pairs (Jesse and Josh, Aaron and Mike) in very similar contexts and within tight date windows. While the language varies enough to avoid a fake review flag, the clustering pattern warrants mild caution.
• PROFESSIONALISM COMPLAINT ON RECORD: Two reviews (2019) describe a technician (Dan) snapping at employees in front of customers, and one review describes a plumber as unpleasant and malodorous. These are older but specific and credible complaints that modestly reduce the professionalism score.
• UNRESOLVED COMPLAINT: One reviewer (2020) alleges a technician removed and kept a faucet aerator without permission and never returned it despite promising to do so. Another reviewer (2024) states no one called back after expressing dissatisfaction. These suggest occasional follow-through failures at the customer service level.

This WW Score is based on a large and diverse review set spanning over a decade, giving it HIGH overall confidence, but the pricing dimension reveals a persistent and well-documented weakness that meaningfully lowers the composite score and should be a primary consideration for prospective customers.

Mainstream demonstrates strong technical competence and generally professional service delivery, with most technicians praised for politeness, efficiency, and thorough workmanship. However, the company is significantly hampered by two critical weaknesses: pricing practices that customers consistently describe as excessive or unfair, and communication/responsiveness issues including poor phone call follow-up and inappropriate contact method preferences. The 2024 communication failure (unsolicited texting despite explicit opt-out) and multiple pricing complaints (ranging from $80 diagnostic fees to $3,000+ quotes for routine work) create material trust concerns that offset otherwise solid execution quality.

• PRICING PATTERN: Six reviews explicitly mention high costs, excessive charges, or unfair pricing. Multiple customers report feeling overcharged relative to work performed (e.g., $885.88 for 1 hour, $400+ for seal replacement, $3,000 water softener quote). This is a systemic concern, not isolated incidents.
• COMMUNICATION FAILURE: October 2024 review documents serious breach of customer preference—customer explicitly unchecked SMS consent, provided all information in remarks, yet received multiple unsolicited text messages. After requesting 'Stop texting me,' received another lengthy message. Customer blocked the number and withdrew business. This suggests process failures in respecting customer communication boundaries.
• RESPONSIVENESS ISSUE: July 2023 review reports one-week delay in returning phone calls with no follow-up. August 2023 review documents customer waiting 7.5 hours with two unanswered calls during business hours.
• RECENCY CONCERN: Most positive reviews cluster in late 2023 (Oct-Dec). The most recent negative reviews are from 2024 (Oct communication failure, Feb pricing complaint), suggesting potential deterioration in service standards.
• INCONSISTENT SERVICE QUALITY: Wide variance between technician performance (Sam, Tracy, Nick, Brent consistently praised) and company-level operations (communication, scheduling, pricing). Individual technicians are strong; company systems appear weak.

This WW Score of 78.2 is reliable and should be trusted as a fair assessment. It is based on 28 substantive reviews with strong data across all four dimensions. The score accurately reflects a company with skilled technicians and solid project execution undermined by aggressive pricing practices and communication/responsiveness failures that create meaningful customer friction and dissatisfaction.

Premier/First Choice Plumbing demonstrates strong professionalism with consistent praise for punctuality, courtesy, and responsiveness across 58 reviews. Pricing is generally viewed favorably at 81.0, with customers noting fair and reasonable rates, though some discrepancies between quotes and final bills were noted. Project completion scores lower at 72.0 due to significant quality control issues documented in multiple detailed complaints involving incomplete work, poor communication about scope, uncapped pipes causing water damage, loose fixtures, and unresolved clogs. Experience ratings of 78.5 reflect mixed technical competency—many reviews praise skill and problem-solving, but several detail failures in workmanship, lack of inspection, and inability to complete jobs properly on first attempt.

• CRITICAL: One extremely detailed negative review (dated 2024-06-09) documents systematic failures across multiple dimensions: uncapped drain pipes causing kitchen flooding, loose shower fixtures, partially clogged drains with water leakage, poor communication about scope of work, and inability to handle heavy equipment. This review is highly specific and credible, not generic.
• Multiple reviews mention communication failures: poor notification about invasive work (wall cutting), disconnected phone calls during quotes, manager avoiding refund calls, and lack of transparency about work scope.
• Quality control concerns: Several reviews document incomplete work requiring callbacks or additional plumber visits (e.g., toilet not filling properly days after install, clogged drain not actually fixed by previous plumber).
• Inconsistency in service quality: Same company receives both 5-star reviews praising specific technicians and 1-star reviews from same time period documenting poor work. This suggests highly variable performance depending on which technician is assigned.
• Several reviews appear to be for 'First Choice Plumbing' mixed with 'Premier Plumbing'—these may be different companies or locations, creating potential data contamination.
• One review (dated 2024-03-25) praises 'First Choice Plumbing' and 'Robbie' but appears to be for a different company entirely based on context.
• Multiple empty or minimal reviews ('unknown', '.') reduce data quality but do not appear to be fake—likely system artifacts.
• Recency bias: Most detailed negative reviews are from 2024 (recent), while many generic 5-star reviews are from 2014-2015, suggesting possible quality decline over time or increased scrutiny in recent reviews.

This WW Score of 76.8 should be treated with MODERATE confidence. While the company demonstrates genuine strengths in professionalism and responsiveness, the presence of multiple detailed, credible complaints about project completion failures—particularly the comprehensive 2024 remodel disaster—indicates real quality control issues that offset positive reviews. The score reflects a company with friendly, punctual staff but inconsistent workmanship and follow-through. Customers should verify specific technician assignments and obtain detailed written scope agreements before hiring.
